Perfect Pairs Blackjack

Perfect Pairs refers to a wager in which the first two cards dealt to a hand will be a pair of the same value; for example, a pair of twos, threes, fours, etc. Odds are paid depending on whether the two matching cards are also of the same suit, same color, or are of mixed colors. If the two cards do not form a pair, then the Perfect Pairs wager loses.

Perfect Pairs is a voluntary side bet which is usually placed precisely at the same time just as the starting wagers in the basic game. In order to put forward a Perfect Pairs wager, you must bet prior to being dealt your cards. Games offering this side bet also provide two betting areas on the table to distinguish the standard wagers from such side wagers. The perfect pairs bet should be placed in the side bet zone.

It is important to keep in mind that the relevance of a Perfect Pairs wager is only to the two initial cards dealt. The dealer’s cards have no bearing on the outcome. Any Perfect Pairs are settled upon dealing the two initial cards. The main game of Blackjack carries on as normal afterward.

The following possibilities warrant that the Perfect Pairs side bet be paid:
• A mixed pair or red/black pair: The two initial cards drawn are exactly alike in face value, except for suit and color. An example of a mixed pair would be a Six of Diamonds and a Six of Spades.
• A colored pair: The first two cards drawn are exactly alike in face value and color, except for suit. An example of a colored pair would be a Ten of Clubs and a Ten of Spades.
• A perfect pair: The two initial cards drawn are exactly alike in terms of face value, color, and suit. An example of a perfect pair would be two Kings of Hearts. Obviously, games played with a single deck fail to provide for such an outcome and render the Perfect Pairs side bet unavailable.

Undoubtedly, the odds of realizing or getting any kind of pair on the first 2 cards dealt are significantly low. However, it is the essence of a majority of side bets to pose high risks and offer high returns. Playing it for the thrill and excitement, in the hope of getting lucky every now and then, certainly provides some additional fun.
